Community Centre Campaign
Wimborne Town Council grant permission for use of their land for a community centre - 21st October 2008 

For some years now, there has been a campaign for better community facilities on Leigh Park. A number of organisations have funding for offering services on Leigh Park, but are unable to operate on the estate itself because of the lack of facilities. The LP Residents' Association has formed a sub group the Leigh Park Community Centre Association dedicated to campaigning for a new Community Centre on Leigh Park. Leigh Park Initiative is fully supportive of such a move and is involved in the campaign. The East Dorset Community Partnership has an article on the News page about the issue.

We are delighted to report that building work is well under way, (target completion August 2010) for a centre that will provide facilities for both a community centre AND a Surestart Children's Centre, with some facilities being shared between the two organisations and some being separate. As work progresses we will put an album of photos online here.
